About Allan Nett
Allan Nett, has been a student of yoga for more 4 decades, and was influenced by his direct study with BKS Iyengar, and Geeta and Prashant Iyengar who live in Puna India. He has now been teaching Yoga for more than 30 years and has earned a Junior Intermediate Level llI Iyengar Yoga Certification. Allan teaches public classes at his studio in St. Helena CA., “Iyengar Yoga Napa Valley” (iynv.com) with Jaki Nett his partner and wife. Jaki has earned a senior level certification in the Iyengar system. Allan also regularly teaches at the “Bay Club of Marin”. For the past 5 years Allan has regularly traveled to China and Taiwan for 3-7 day workshops.
His expansive professional background includes a Masters degree in Geology from the University of Southern California (USC), where he also was a teaching assistant in Geology and received a full wrestling scholarship as an undergraduate. Allan worked for several years as a “Geothermal Exploration Geologist. He has taught Geology at Pierce College in the San Fernando Valley, CA and Biology and Earth Science at the American Community School in London. He holds a lifetime California Junior College credential.
Allan was a building contractor for over 25 years. Iyengar Yoga helped him to maintain a healthy body as well as providing him with the ability to calm his mind. About 15 years ago “Yoga for the Construction Industry” was started and has since expanded into “Yoga with Your Boots On” and “Office Yoga”. Allan is a practicing professional reflexologist and body worker, practicing the healing arts for over 50 years. He is an ordained minister, clairvoyant and recognizes the close interconnection of his ministry and his yoga teaching.
Allan’s varied life experiences have enabled him to connect with students with a wide variety of life styles. His teaching style directs and empowers students towards realizing the harmony of the inner being – aligning body, mind and spirit. Allan focuses on emphasizing the importance of developing a solid foundation in awareness; to live in the moment, and experience the Self. As a Certified Yoga instructor he is: patient, stimulating, good-natured, open minded and accessible.
